The clock is ticking and Christmas is fast approaching, and with the Christmas holidays only a few weeks away, you may be planning an extra special Christmas party for your little ones, or you may have found yourself on the Preschool or School committee for all things Christmas – fete, party and grotto!!  If you’re in need of some top tips and inspiration, look no further! We’ve got some advice from party experts Wish Upon a Party to ensure everything sparkles with Christmas magic!

Inviting Guests and setting a date for Christmas Party

Setting a date around Christmas is notoriously tricky, with Christmas work parties, family occasions and staying away over the Christmas period – we recommend that you set your date nice and early. Early December is possibly easier to ensure that you have a full house of guests. Remember when designing an invitation or poster for your event that you include important details: date, time, location, fancy dress, and any allergies that you need to tie into your Christmas goodie table menu.

Organise some ‘Mummy and Daddy helpers’, hire a professional DJ or children’s entertainer

To create a stress free and amazing party or event, your children guests need grown up supervision for safety reasons and to prevent any damages to persons or property! Adults can help with the party games and party rules, making sure every guest has fun! At Wish Upon a Party we can supply a professional entertainer to lead games and make sure that your party runs as smoothly as possible – we have Elves, Fairies, Angels, Christmas Princesses and of course a famous face from Lap Land!

Christmas discos are always a big hit with both children and parents – ensure that the DJ or entertainer that you choose has professional quality equipment and lighting and has public liability insurance and a DBS/CRB check.

Costume Choices

Think glitter, glitter. and more glitter! A Christmas party is the perfect time to sparkle yourself up, and dress up your little angels as – well just that! Christmas Jumpers are also a great idea and can be found cheaply on the high street and in supermarkets!

You simply cannot have a perfect Christmas party without music playing throughout! Think carols, classics, party dances, Nat King Cole to Mariah Carey!

Decorating your venue

Dig out the tinsel, fairy lights and baubles and cover the venue in festive cheer! We recommend sticking to a colour theme for added impact! Guests will love to arrive at the North Pole, surrounded by snow and tinsel. High street shops supply ‘snow blankets’ which are just perfect for making treat tables look fabulous!

During the festive period Wish Upon A Party angels love to be creative; here is an idea for a gorgeous ‘make and do’ activity for your event:

  • Reindeer food bags – make a gorgeous bundle of oats and glitter ready for Rudolph to gobble up when visiting your house this Christmas Eve..

Lay out on a table: plastic food bags to be filled with reindeer food, stickers to write your message to Rudolph, oats( muesli is also lovely) and glitter. Add all ingredients to the bag and tie with festive ribbon!

Food and Treats

Remember that Christmas is full of treats, sweets and delicious eatables – edible glitter sprinkled on mince pies and pretty gold paper plates will be welcomed at any party food table to add a touch of festive cheer!

Good Luck and Merry Christmas!
