My daughter Holly is 6 months old and is a little too old (and wriggly!) to be swaddled. However we still use this style of big swaddle blankets all the time!

I have found so many uses for large swaddle blankets…

They are great to lay her on at the various baby groups we attend.

Use as a light blanket in hot weather. Keeps the sun off baby without them overheating. Also for placing over the pushchair hood to keep the sun off baby.

When feeding to place round baby’s neck for milky dribble, over your shoulder when burping and also great as a nursing cover.

Holly absolutely loves playing peekaboo, and these are great as they are light and breathable. She also thinks is so funny and exciting to place it over her jumparoo to make a ‘den’!!

Placing in shopping trolleys and high chairs to give baby something soft to lie/sit on.

I think the Aden + Anais swaddle blankets have lovely designes. They are bright and eye catching and the material is lovely and soft. They wash nicely and dry really quickly.

I have given them 4/5 stars, only because I feel that the price point is too high, I have similar swaddle blankets that are just as good quality for half the price. However I haven’t seen many other swaddles with such lovely designes and because of the quality and how well they wash I feel that you would at least get a lot of use out of them!

I have a newborn daughter who still startles herself awake so have been experimenting with lots of different ways to swaddle her at night. My daughter so far at 4 weeks old has been able to escape my previous attempts of swaddling with a blanket so I was excited to test the Aden + Anais swaddles.

The first thing I noticed was how large the swaddles are; they measure 120cm x 120cm which is a really generous size. The swaddles are lovely and soft due to them being pre-washed but you will still need to wash these before your first use as recommended. For novices like myself the pack includes instructions on how to swaddle the baby which is extremely helpful.

I found that my 4 week old was able to free one arm meaning she woke herself up but that could have been down to me not swaddling her tight enough.

Due to the large size of the swaddle I have used this as pram blanket and also as a blanket for the car, it’s not too thick but still keeps her warm and snug.

The swaddles have nice bright designs and retained their softness after washing.

The swaddles have an RRP of £45 for a pack of 4 which is quite steep but for the quality of the product I think it is worth spending that little bit more.

These swaddle muslins are adorable I love the gender neutral animal designs and their size and softness is great, it makes them so versatile. I have twins, boy and girl so it’s great to have designs that will suit both of them without having to buy more than one pack. My girl likes to be swaddled for a little while and these were handy to use as you could have them for burping / feeding and then swaddle, although I did find that she wriggled free all too soon, maybe I’m just not used to swaddling myself (I normally have the all in one sleep swaddles, no folding required)!
I did however, find these were most useful for having in the changing bag, I could use them as burp cloths, covers whilst breastfeeding, which these muslins are of a great size and have plenty of cover so no exposure and then when it’s time to burp a baby who has reflux you know you’re not going to run out of cloth!
I also found by keeping them in the changing bag they could be used a sunshade over the pram, we keep getting these pesky sunny days! 😉
They are also so handy to use as blankets for baby to lie on, when on the floor for baby group or when changing a nappy for example.
These really are so versatile and are so cosy and soft I can see why they have a high rrp but I am not quite sure they are truly justifiable. These are more of a desirable item rather than essential. But they would make a lovely boutique baby shower / new baby gift (providing the parent(s) can appreciate their specialness! They would certainly be on my wishlist.
I also think I may actually believe the claim that they get softer with each wash – I almost want to wrap myself in one and snuggle up! They’re soft anyway to start with but where some cheaper alternatives can crinkle, lose shape or lose their softness these do none of those things. If I could afford these or they were lower priced they would be the ONLY muslin I would buy and the only brand I would recommend to friends and family – for now they shall remain as a designer / upmarket item that I shall desire and maybe treat a good friend or relative to when they are expecting.
