What you’ll learn – Module 8
Our expert midwives will take you through the last session of your course – leaving you with complete knowledge of how to care for your baby and some basic first aid skills

This class is about so much more than life-saving skills and what to do in an emergency. In our expert-led, live and interactive class we aim to equip you, as expectant and new parents, with essential skills and advice on a both a well and unwell baby in whatever form that may take, as well as exploring the different options in getting support. The class should allow you to feel confident in trusting your parental instincts when it comes to looking after your baby.

Our Baby First Aid class is ideal for expectant and new parents to gain the most up-to-date and evidence-based information, equipping your family with the skills, confidence, and peace of mind whilst caring for your baby.

As parents-to-be, we at Now Baby know that you want to be as well prepared for your baby’s arrival as possible – not just for the labour & birth, but for life with a new baby. This is why we have included in our antenatal course package, our unique, honest, and practical Baby First Aid class to help you feel prepared to be able to support your baby’s overall safety and wellbeing as best you can.

Alongside essential first aid, we explore changes in your baby that you should be aware of – such as temperature, behaviour, or signs of infection.  During this class we also explore the most up to date, evidence advice on safer sleeping, discussing what to do and what to avoid. All of our classes are recorded so that you can watch back the recording whenever you need to and of course our midwives continue to provide advice and support long after the course has ended.

During this class you will receive practical, expert and evidence-based advice on:

    • How to start trusting your parental instincts
    • Tips on where to find help
    • Recognise early signs of illness and infections
    • What to do when your baby is unwell
    • Learn how Meningitis affects a child and signs to look out for
    • Choking & how to manage Cuts & Burns
    • Essential advice on SIDS and keeping your baby safe
    • CPR information and when you may need to use it
