What Is Covered In The Course
You will be given access to 23 lessons including a mixture of videos and practical resources led by Dr Carly Fertleman. Learn at your own pace, rewatch, revise, revisit whenever you need to.

Breathing, colds and snuffles, coughing and wheezing, choking, periodic breathing, basic life support

Vomiting, reflux & constipation, Dehydration, Poo colour

Examination of the new born (NIPE), growth & centiles, newborn blood spot (Heel Prick Test), hearing test

Taking a temperature, fever after vaccination, fever medication

Jaundice, plagiocephaly or head shape syndrome

Course Overview

From time to time your baby may have a temperature or suffer from tummy troubles. This course aims not only to give you the confidence to recognise the most common symptoms but also guides you through some useful practical steps. Essential advice on when you need to access medical help and what to do in an emergency

Course Leader

Dr Carly Fertleman (Dr Carly) MD, FRCPCH, MSc, MB BChir, BA (Hons) Cantab, SFHEA, FAcadMEd is a consultant paediatrician based in London, UK. Award winning author and educator, Dr Carly is also a mother of 3. In over 30 years of paediatric medicine practice Dr Carly has helped thousands of children and their parents in her career and is committed to helping parents through what is arguably the hardest of journeys – the parenting journey.

What you will learn

During the course we will cover how to identify symptoms as well as useful practical guides including how to take your baby’s temperature, new born health screening and delivering basic life support should the need arise.

Practical & theoretical help

The course helps you to understand both the causes and the practical treatment options for a wide range of common medical conditions. Gain a better understanding of the most common medical conditions that affect babies in their first year. Helps you recognise when to and when not to worry. Covering everything from breathing and fever to basic life support.
